The game didn't work for me, but from what I have seen that seems to be something that is an issue with most physical copies of this particular game (Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle and Dragons Super Mario Edition). I tried it in two separate new 3DS, one XL and one LL. Not too upset but it might be something to keep an eye on depending on what game you want.

However, be aware that you may have to reset the save file on the cartridge. If you don't know how to do this on the 3DS, all you have to do is launch the game, wait for the initial "Nintendo logo" to go away, then hold the A, B, X, and O buttons down.
