Router is Variable speed, and this kit will provide everything needed to do almost any project you come up against. Router is 2.25 Horsepower and with the variable speed has enough power to handle almost any larger bits you may want to use with ease. This router kit has all the features you can hope to find in a quality router kit. Plunge and fixed bases and this works perfectly with a bosch router table. I'm very happy with this router kit. I've had fixed and plunge routers from Craftsmen and Harbor freight...I got by with them but this Unit is so much better quality and the accessories available for this machine make it a very versatile setup. This Bosch 1617 router series is the industry standard that all the others adhere to. I wish it had come with a router fence, I had to order that separately.
